A insegurança é o ato falho.

SOCIALIZATION OF CHILDREN

We instruct our sons and daughters not to talk to strangers ...

But who is the stranger? For another, we are. For us, they, they and them. However, the need for community persists.

In a fellowship of late years, I heard the phrase, "is like a family ...".

Commonly, in gatherings of late years, the firm, factory, club, church, school ... They are like a family. This is a base idea.

But is the strangeness decreased to the point of making everyone as loved family members?

Interestingly, these times are, people reveal atypical behavior. In an effort to appear natural, to be "family", people get drunk, tell some jokes, others leave platonic attraction to reveal repressed and it is very rare for a fellowship to become a festival of barbs and sparks.

These gatherings, can be born lovers, hatred, the destruction of  enemy  because of a secret revealed, so is the human being.

And that is the prototype of insecurity. Insecurity is the slip. And we tend to seek remedy for the discomfort of our insecurity, surrounding us, protecting us, trying to protect everything that is ours, our home, our family, our neighborhood ...

And that does not belong to us, do not identify as ours, is the strange and protect him in the point of committing acts absurd and thoughtless.

Socializing a child that perspective a lot of work.

How do we educate a child, giving the recipe for trust people if we protect them all the time?

How to exercise the desire of community, collective space, rising up in the middle of space whether we should protect ourselves from the other, the alien, the invader?

Sean Goldman's case shows this perfectly. The maternal family would be the attacker of the territory or the father who was the attacker. For home videos, you'll realize that the mother died, and felt no's at ease with her husband ...

Bauman says that the idea of community evokes a safety net, is associated with a good idea. We are not alone after all. It's the return to paradise lost, but rather is still a paradise lost we insist on finding.

As a reference for further reflection on the contact and interaction with outsiders, a great movie is the "Hostel". There are many other, but both the I and II clearly shows how the idea of community, contact with people who do not know, is a powerful risk to the health of each one.
